Max was a dog.

Max tried to jump over the gate, but it was too high.
Max tried to dig under the fence, but it was too low.
Max pushed hard at the fence so it would fall down, but it was too sturdy.
Max was mad about being locked up.
Max jumped as high as he could, but he could not see over the fence.
Max barked as loudly as he could, but no one came to let him out.
Finally, Max gave up, because he was worn out.
Max settled down and took a nice, long nap.
